Pertama, Sub Varian tersebut merupakan Sub Varian Omicron yang merupakan gabungan dari BA.2.10.1 dan BA.275, Varian Omicron merupakan varian yang pernah memuncak pada bulan februari 2022 yang lalu. Kedua, pada 10 November 2022 Sub Varian XBB sudah tersebar di 37 negara di dunia, dimana Singapura, India dan Australia menjadi negara yang tertinggi. Ketiga, gejala yang ditimbulkan dari sub varian ini tidak jauh berbeda dengan gejala yang lainnya.
“Gejala yang ditimbulkan dari COVID-19 sub varian XBB ini mirip dengan gejala COVID-19 pada umumnya, mulai dari demam, batuk, kelelahan, nyeri otot, anosmia hingga diare.” tuturnya.
Selanjutnya, munculnya varian/sub varian baru COVID-19 merupakan sifat alamiah dari sebuah virus untuk terus bermutasi untuk bertahan hidup. Oleh karena itu, Prof Wiku memberikan langkah pencegahan yang bisa dilakukan saat adanya kenaikan kasus atau munculnya sub varian baru ditambah aktivitas kegiatan sosial ekonomi masyarakat seperti pernikahan, kegiatan sosial, festival musik, maupun tempat perbelanjaan yang mulai kembali normal.
Pertama, pastikan kondisi prima saat menghadiri kegiatan massal, apabila merasa sakit atau tidak enak badan segera istirahat di rumah. Kedua, terapkan protokol kesehatan semaksimal mungkin saat berada di kerumunan dengan tetap memakai masker dengan benar, dan rajin menggunakan hand sanitizer. Ketiga, biasakan diri dengan pola hidup bersih dan sehat serta lengkapi vaksinasi dosis ketiga.
“Adanya tren kenaikan kasus dan munculnya varian/sub varian baru hendaknya dapat menjadi pengingat bahwa COVID-19 masih ada dan kita masih tetap harus menjaga diri kita dengan protokol kesehatan. Berkegiatan menjadi aman dan nyaman apabila kita dapat saling menjaga, sehingga potensi penularan menjadi berkurang dan jumlah kasus COVID-19 dapat kembali ditekan.” ujar Prof.Wiku. (vie/ril)
